Esports tournaments always bring thrilling moments. This past Saturday, one of those moments unfolded at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) for League of Legends. The event saw a major record broken by a key player.
T1, the Korean powerhouse, faced Bilibili Gaming (BLG) in a tough semifinal match. This game was part of the upper bracket at MSI 2025. During this big game, T1’s star bot laner, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, truly shined. He didn’t just help his team win; he smashed a long-standing record for his position.
Gumayusi became the top killer for his role in MSI history. He racked up an amazing 312 kills during the tournament. This milestone meant he passed Zhao “Elk” Jia-Hao, the BLG player he was competing against. Elk previously held the record with 307 kills. Talk about a direct challenge!
His incredible performance also pushed him high up the general kill leaderboards. Monsieur Yordle, a well-known LoL data analyst, quickly pointed out his new spot. Gumayusi now sits at third place among all players.
Here is the updated list of the top MSI kill leaders:
- Faker (T1) – 485 kills
- Caps (G2) – 381 kills
- Gumayusi (T1) – 312 kills
- Xiaohu (Weibo) – 309 kills
- Elk (Bilibili) – 307 kills

With third place secured, Gumayusi isn’t done yet. He’s now eyeing second place, currently held by Europe’s Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard. The road ahead for T1 is still exciting. Their next match is a big one against Gen.G. This Thursday, May 9th, T1 will battle South Korea’s top seed for a coveted spot in the grand finals. It’s a chance for Gumayusi to add even more kills to his name.
