Liverpool is ready to splash the cash for Florian Wirtz. The Reds are willing to pay around 135 million euros to bring the attacking midfielder to Anfield.
Sources in Germany and England say Liverpool and Leverkusen are close to a deal. Bild reports that Wirtz, 22, won’t join his team on their South American tour from July 14 to 24. This suggests he’s no longer part of Leverkusen’s plans for the 2025/26 season.
Wirtz has allegedly agreed to a contract with Liverpool until 2030, with a yearly salary of 10 million euros. He’s expected to undergo medical tests early next week.
If Leverkusen accepts Liverpool’s offer, the transfer could match the Premier League’s most expensive deal: Philippe Coutinho’s 135-million-euro move from Liverpool to Barcelona in 2018. It would also surpass Chelsea’s 121-million-euro purchase of Enzo Fernández from Benfica.
The offer from Liverpool includes a base fee of 100 million pounds (around 119 million euros) plus a 13-million-pound bonus (around 15.5 million euros). This totals around 135 million euros, which is less than 10 percent of Leverkusen’s initial demands. The German club rejected Liverpool’s first offer of 125 million euros.
