Listeria: massive recall of contaminated ham

Super U, Carrefour, Leclerc, Franprix … Several brands in the country are concerned. Recall Conso, the government site for health alerts and recalls, is sounding the alarm on the presence of listeria in ham sold in many chain stores.

In this context, the offending product is subject to a withdrawal and a massive recall in stores.

Consumers who may have purchased them should check their fridge as soon as possible. This alert concerns ham from the Herta brand.

Many distributors are indeed recalling trays of Herta “Le Bon Paris etouffée – 6 slices” ham marketed between 25 and 27 August 2021.

This tray, weighing 255 g, was marketed by Système U, Leclerc, Monoprix, Metro, Leader Price, Intermarché, Francap, Atac, Schiever, Carrefour, Casino and Franprix stores.

An incubation period of eight days

In case of contamination, listeria can cause serious risks, especially in pregnant women and immunocompromised people.

The incubation period of the disease induced by this bacterium can be up to eight days. People who notice symptoms such as fever, headaches or body aches are advised to consult a doctor indicating to him that they have consumed the product, warns Recall.conso.gouv.

Apart from calling on consumers not to consume these products and to bring them back to the store as quickly as possible, the brands ensure that an immediate refund will be made. A refund that they are legally required to make.
