Listeria: Leclerc recalls surimi and goat balls

Remember to check your fridge. Leclerc has just recalled several batches of surimi crumbs and goat balls for suspected Listeria, warns the site rappel.conso.gouv.fr. The first product concerned are “Surimi crumbs – crab flavor (180g)” from the Pèche Océan brand. The recalled batches bear the GTIN code 3564700128091 and the health mark FR 14.738.042 CE. The expiry date written on the packaging is 20/06/2022 and “the times concerned are between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The time is identified on the product by the last 4 digits of the marking”, say the authorities.

The sign evokes a suspicion of the presence of Listeria monocytogenes (agent responsible for listeriosis). These potentially contaminated batches were marketed in the self-service department from 05/05/2022 to 05/12/2022 by the brand throughout France.

Leclerc has also just recalled several batches of “Duo of tomato/paprika goat cheese balls – tapenade/poppy seed (65g)” from the Les Croisés brand. The batches concerned bear the health mark FR 16.292.066 CE, the GTIN code 3564706581173 and have an expiry date of 05/18/2022, 05/30/2022, 06/06/2022 and 06/07/2022. These products were marketed throughout France in the self-service department from 04/28/2022 to 05/11/2022. Again, the sign evokes the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Customers who have purchased one of these batches of surimi crumbs or goat cheese balls are invited not to consume them and to bring them back to the store. They will then be refunded. For more information, the consumer service can be reached on 0800 865 286.

If you have already consumed these products and you have a fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, get closer to your doctor quickly, notifying him of the consumption of a potentially contaminated product. Consumption of products exposed to Listeria can lead, when followed by symptoms, to listeriosis. The incubation period can extend to eight weeks. Pregnant women, the elderly or immunocompromised are the most vulnerable.
