Lionel Scalloni: "We are in a very difficult stage"

The coach of the Argentine National Team, Lionel Scaloni, referred this Tuesday to injuries just over a month before the 2022 Qatar World Cup and assured that it is “a very difficult stage”, although he stressed that “little can be done” and that “it is not worth planning so long before” the contest.

“We are in a quite difficult stage. The players are playing a lot of games. October is terrible”Scaloni said in statements to the official Twitch channel AFA Estudio, and added: “There may be problems as there are, injuries or sanctions”.

In that line, he continued: “When something happens I worry, but little can be done. I am of the idea that the player has to go out on the field to play and not think about what is coming. It can be harmful. Let them play naturally. we tell them that it’s not worth scheming so much time before the World Cup, dont have much sense. We want them to enjoy the process and try to have a good time.”

As for the news of the albiceleste group almost a month before the World Cup, the technical director express: “We want this connection with people to continue like this, beyond the results. When we are united, Argentina is difficult to beat.”.

In addition, Scaloni highlighted: “In the last game with Jamaica we closed a process of almost four years. I told the players, it was a very nice road, with not easy moments, but for the most part very emotional. We enjoyed it a lot and now we have to focus on the World Cup.”
