LimeWire adds XRP as a payment method

LimeWire, a blockchain-based platform for sharing music and other content, has added XRP as a means of payment for the Initial Coin Offering (ICO) of its LimeWire token (LMWR).

XRP integrated as payment method for LimeWire token presale

Due to recent developments, XRP investors can now participate in the presale with their XRP tokens. This means that users can deposit XRP tokens to buy the LMWR token before it is officially traded on recognized exchanges. LimeWire announced that XRP will be listed on more than 4 major exchanges starting May 16.

LimeWire added XRP after consensus within the XRP community. It is noteworthy that LimeWire first asked the Ripple community if they would agree to add XRP as a means of payment. LimeWire indicated that it would add XRP if the tweet received more than 300 retweets, which it achieved without any problems.

To date, the tweet has garnered more than 1,800 retweets. An image released by the LimeWire team confirms the successful addition of XRP, which is now offered alongside other payment options such as BTC, ETH, USDT, and BNB.

What is LimeWire?

LimeWire was originally a peer-to-peer file sharing platform that was active from 2000 to 2010. It enabled users to share files, such as music, videos and documents, directly with each other over the Internet. Due to legal problems, mainly related to copyright, LimeWire had to cease operations.

In 2021, Austrian investors Paul and Julian Zehetmayr acquired the brand and transformed it into a blockchain-based Web3 platform for creators and fans. This new platform aims at facilitating the distribution and sharing of digital content in a decentralized and regulated manner.
