Lil Nas X finally opened up about a truly upsetting incident: his recent arrest in Los Angeles.
"Your girl is going to be okay," Lil Nas X declared on Instagram on Tuesday, August 26. "She’s going to be okay. She’s going to be okay. Sh*t. That was really scary. It was scary. These last four days were terrifying, but your girl is going to be okay." His words painted a picture of a rough period.
Days before, on August 21, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed details of the incident. A spokesperson for a prominent news channel reported that officers responded to calls about "a naked man walking in the street." The LAPD did not name the person involved. However, the department’s spokesperson stated that this individual "tried to assault an officer, so he was booked for assaulting a law enforcement officer."
News outlet TMZ dropped a bombshell report on Monday, August 25. They stated that the Los Angeles Police Department had charged the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, with four serious felony counts. These charges reportedly included assault with injury on a police officer. TMZ also mentioned that no bail had been set, and Hill was expected to be processed that very day.
Before all this, viral photos and videos circulated online. They appeared to show Lil Nas X with a traffic cone on his head. He seemed to be talking to himself about going to a party.
A History of Public Struggles
This isn’t the first time Lil Nas X has faced a public health scare. Back on April 14, he revealed a recent hospital stay after he lost control of one side of his face. He posted a video from his hospital bed on Instagram. "So I lost control of the right side of my face ðŸ˜," he wrote in the caption. In the video, he tried to smile, adding, "By the way, this is me smiling completely." He then shared his frustration, saying, "I can’t even laugh, bro! What the f***? Oh my God."
This string of events might offer a peek into a deeper struggle. In February, the rapper openly shared his challenges from previous years. "These last few years were pretty difficult for me," he said in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter). The original link for this video is here. He added, "I’m just now getting to a place where I feel secure in myself and what I’m doing. I’m trying to make sure I put intention into my music and into my vision and into the creativity of all of it."
He stressed a main goal: "Most of all, I really want to make sure I have fun this time." He also admitted that he didn’t enjoy himself as much when he launched his 2021 album, Montero. He explained his past focus: "I was more focused on making sure the songs were successful than having fun doing this." He quickly clarified, "And I’m not saying I didn’t have fun. I had a lot of fun." But for his future work, his hopes are clear. "But this time I want it to be even more fun. I want to be even more full of joy and even more full of love," he shared.
