Lieutenant General Malee Socheata Denies Cambodian Drone Incursion into Thai Airspace

A high-ranking Cambodian official has strongly rejected claims by neighboring media that Cambodian drones have flown into its airspace. Lieutenant General Malee Sochietea, who speaks for Cambodia’s Ministry of Defense, addressed the allegations head-on. She dismissed them as baseless.

On Sunday, August 3, 2025, during a morning press briefing, the spokesperson pushed back against what she called untrue reports. Lieutenant General Malee Sochietea stated that recent videos used by the other side were “fake.” She said these videos were spun to accuse Cambodian drones of crossing into their territory. Such actions, she explained, do not help calm things down. Instead, they just add unnecessary strain between the two nations.

Cambodia is now demanding that these kinds of activities stop immediately. The country also urged its neighbor to avoid sending its own drones into Cambodian airspace. Should any future violations of Cambodia’s sovereignty occur, the Ministry of Defense warned that suitable actions would be taken.

Lieutenant General Sochietea further commented that media from the neighboring country often twists facts and attacks Cambodia. She noted a pattern of false accusations. These frequently include claims that Cambodia fired first, used heavy weapons, targeted civilian areas, or broke ceasefire agreements. This constant blaming, she implied, makes true peace harder to achieve.
