Libertadores Champions Flamengo Troll Palmeiras, Andreas Pereira Online

Brazilian football club Flamengo unleashed a flurry of provocative social media messages targeting rivals and a former player in the immediate aftermath of its Copa Libertadores triumph over Palmeiras.

Following their narrow 1-0 victory against Palmeiras, Flamengo utilized its official social media channels on November 29, 2025, to engage in a series of posts that quickly garnered attention.

One post directly targeted rival Palmeiras by depicting its pig mascot trapped in a cage, while Flamengo’s vulture mascot stood guard. The accompanying caption translated to: “In Brazil, there’s no other like it.”

Another post took aim at Andreas Pereira, a Palmeiras player who previously played for Flamengo. The image showed Pereira from behind, resembling a relay runner, with the Libertadores trophy tucked into his bag.

This visual was a direct reference to Pereira’s crucial error in the 2021 Libertadores final, which led to Flamengo losing the title to Palmeiras while he was playing for them. The provocative message read: “Understand one thing: nobody, I repeat… nobody dies owing us!”

Beyond the direct taunts, Flamengo also re-shared a 2019 post featuring an image of former coach Jorge Jesus alongside Filipe Luís. Luís, who was a player under Jesus during his tenure, is now Flamengo’s victorious head coach.

The re-published post included the caption: “I keep asking myself. And this image?”
