LG Electronics Adds Blockchain & Crypto As Industries

LG Electronics, the South Korean technology giant, has officially added blockchain and crypto as business areas in its corporate charter.

LG Cryptocurrency Exchange May Be Coming

The company has reportedly set two new goals related to crypto, namely “the development and sale of blockchain-related software” and the “sale and brokerage of cryptocurrency”. This would suggest some form of crypto exchange.

It is worth mentioning, however, that the company still has to make a few decisions about the how and what. Nothing has been officially decided yet and talks are still in the early stages.

Another possibility would be that it will be done through a collaboration. Earlier this year, LG started a partnership with South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb. Together they would be working on an NFT marketplace, but this may be expanded further to also sell cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain increasingly used

LG is currently making great strides within the crypto world. Earlier this month, it was announced that they would be partnering with blockchain company ‘Kakao’s Ground X’ to introduce smart televisions that are fully NFT compatible.

That tech giants are now stepping into the crypto world seems to be a trend, also in South Korea. Cryptocurrencies and blockchain-related technologies are increasingly being deployed. Earlier this year, South Korean tech giant Samsung announced it would launch an NFT platform for its smart TVs, as well as its own store in Decentraland’s Metaverse. It is currently unknown what the next step of these tech giants will be.
