Lewis Hamilton is the favorite to repeat as F-1 champion

Will the satrapy continue or will the palace of speed have a new monarch? What seemed like the beginning of the execution of the implacable Englishman a month ago, this Sunday will bring the most historic Formula One Grand Prix, when in Abu Dhabi Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton decide who will get everything.

In the mother of wars in the premier class, the super-gifted rivals to the death will ride in pursuit of the most legendary World Cup – an unprecedented tie for the climax -, on a circuit that could not be quicker to a drama that gave no respite after twenty-two horrifying battles.

The Yas Marina circuit of the ostentatious emirate has its history for Verstappen like Hamilton, having won there with very dissimilar precedents. While the Dutchman took the biggest trophy in 2020, the seven-time champion clearly dominates that scenario, with five victories.

Hamilton, kidnapped in the second half of the hostilities against an intractable Verstappen – the difference in triumphs reached 9-5 for the “Little Senna”, who was in 4-1 supremacy until the Brazilian GP – now has three victories in a row. An unmatched roller coaster ride on the biggest bitumen snake ever.

Hamilton will be looking for a fifth straight title and seventh in the last eight years. Verstappen wants the summit, although he was never runner-up (third in 2019, 2020). Max, champion by accident?

Verstappen still leads -technically- because he comes to this ordeal with one more victory than his archrival (9-8), but he would have no decision-making power, except for a rough end -with precedents-, in which both go without points in the race , the result of which would crown him.

The Red Bull Racing pilot, only 24 years old and the power factor of Hamilton from Brazil – an engine with an additional 20 horsepower – will supply him with inscrutable pressure (seen in Saudi Arabia) trying to avoid with blood and fire almost an impossible: stop the your enemy’s lunges in DRS zones.

And Hamilton will return explosives in hand, which will leave RBR as the only option to upgrade the power of the car “33” to much higher.

The layout of the island is 5.28 kms (after modifications in very closed sectors) and two straights that will favor Hamilton and his DRS, in addition to Verstappen performing more in curves (21), one of which looks quite fast: a kind of bow, great for exploding.

Foggy ending

If it is the bloodiest season of all, still without blood between two pilots whose tension already seems to exceed the most memorable one (Ayrton Senna-Alain Prost), the result of Arabia, Italy, Hungary and England would be just a postcard of what is to come.

Already the penultimate Verstappen-Hamilton encounter, which could have resulted in a catastrophic end, sets a similarly tight pattern for the team directors – for days now. The Belgian-born even broke into the award festivities absent.

Could the dispute be decided with an “involuntary” accident, if the final result becomes irreversible? Verstappen proved in Jeddah that he can be broken by impotence of a title that only the super power given to Hamilton could take from him. In 1989 and 1990, Senna and Prost -among other antecedents- settled these World Cups with a collision of cars.

If everything concludes with a checkered flag, a power change in the energy drink will be crucial – it involves giving up five starting positions – to counter the rocket “44”, before which Verstappen still wins pole, his chance to execute the dictator it is almost unlikely.
