Lewandowski had fun and Barcelona beat Mexican Pumas 6-0

Barcelona had no mercy on the UNAM Pumas – they had the Brazilian ex-Barça Dani Alves among the starters – and won 6-0 in a friendly match for the Joan Gamper Trophy, played this Sunday before 83,000 fans at the Camp Nou .

The meeting served as the introduction of Pole Robert Lewandowski to his new audience -he had already played in the Catalan team’s tour of the United States-. And it didn’t take long for the ex-Bayern Munich to check his goalscoring credentials as two minutes and 36 seconds later he was celebrating in front of his fans.

The striker marked the pass to Pedri, made the goalkeeper pass with a touch and with a complicated angle he took the forehand to overcome the defenders who did what they could to supplant the absence of the keeper of the three sticks.

Two minutes later, Lewandowski returned kindnesses and assisted Pedri in a great way to make it 2-0. Then came goals from the French Dembelé (at 9) and another from the young Pedri (at 18) to close the fatal first 20 minutes for the Mexicans. In the second part, the Gabonese Aubameyang (at 49) and the Dutchman Frankie de Jong increased.

Lewandowski -he also excelled with a heel assist for the fourth goal- shared the lead with Dembelé and another of the season’s reinforcements, the Brazilian ex-Leeds United Raphinha. Xavi Hernández’s team was very good, with a style of play that was quite similar to the one that took Barcelona to the top of Europe in recent times.
