Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset is set to power a new wave of high-performance tablets, with Lenovo’s upcoming Legion Y700 2026 poised to be a key adopter.

Lenovo is preparing to launch a new flagship tablet, the Legion Y700 2026, featuring Qualcomm’s latest high-end silicon. This device is expected in the first half of 2026.

The tablet will boast an 8.8-inch LCD display with 3K resolution and an industry-leading 165 Hz refresh rate. It is also expected to include a robust 9,000 mAh battery and a large cooling system. These features are designed for intensive processing tasks like gaming.

These details were shared by a prominent Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station, on the social media platform Weibo, and further reported by GizmoChina.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip is manufactured using 3-nanometer technology. It features an 8-core CPU configuration. This includes two Prime cores clocked up to 4.61 GHz for demanding workloads, and six Performance cores reaching 3.63 GHz for general high-efficiency tasks. The chip represents a significant leap in mobile processing power.

The Honor MagicPad 3 Pro, launched in China on October 23, 2025, was the first tablet to integrate the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Its release signaled the chip’s readiness for wider adoption in premium devices.

Honor became an independent brand in 2020 after separating from Huawei. This move was part of a strategic focus on expanding its global market presence.

Lenovo’s upcoming Legion Y700 2026 is a successor to the Legion Y700 (Gen 4), which debuted in China in May 2025. The previous model featured an 8.8-inch 3K LCD display with a 165 Hz refresh rate.

The Gen 4 was powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4) chipset. It offered up to 16 GB of LPPDR5X RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Its battery capacity was 7,600 mAh, supporting 68W fast charging and bypass charging.

The device also included a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel selfie camera, and dual stereo speakers tuned by JBL. It featured two USB-C ports.
