Portable gaming is heating up, and Lenovo is making a bold statement with its upcoming Legion Go 2. This handheld device aims to push the boundaries for gamers on the move. We first saw a prototype at CES 2025 earlier this year, shown alongside the Legion Go S. Now, Lenovo is getting ready for its official debut. The company plans to fully unveil the Legion Go 2 at IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) 2025. This major global electronics show is where we expect to learn all the final details.
But eager fans got an early peek. A well-known tipster named Evan Blass, famous for his reliable scoops, recently shared a teaser video on platform X. This video gave us a good look at the Legion Go 2’s design and hinted at its most important features.
One of the biggest highlights is the screen. The Legion Go 2 features an 8.8-inch PureSight OLED display. This panel is not just big; it’s also incredibly smooth. It supports a variable refresh rate that can go up to 144 Hz. This means games will look fluid, showing up to 144 frames per second. Gamers can adjust this setting to fit what each game needs.

Lenovo designed the controls for maximum flexibility. The Legion Go 2 comes with Legion Truestrike controllers. These controllers can attach to, or detach from, the main screen. This lets players choose how they want to game. The device also includes six programmable buttons. These offer quick access to different in-game actions. A big upgrade from the first Legion Go is the fingerprint scanner. It’s built right into the power button, adding extra security and convenience.

Under the hood, the Legion Go 2 packs a serious punch. It uses the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chipset. This is the same powerful chip found in competitor devices like the ASUS ROG Ally X. The processor combines the CPU and GPU into a single package, known as an APU. It boasts 8 cores and 16 threads. With Zen 5 and Zen 5c chips, it can speed up from 2.0 GHz to a fast 5.0 GHz.
The graphics are handled by a 16-core chip. This is built on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture. It can reach speeds of up to 2,900 MHz. This setup promises a top-tier gaming experience for all kinds of titles.
The Legion Go 2 is also very versatile. It supports three distinct gaming modes. You can use it as a tablet, a console, or in a special FPS mode. This FPS mode is designed specifically for first-person shooter games, giving players an edge.

Lenovo also paid attention to the device’s exterior. The Legion Go 2 has a new body coating. This makes it more durable and resistant to fingerprints. It also means the device is easier to keep clean. To keep things cool during intense gaming, it uses Legion Coldfront technology. This system pulls air in through the back of the device. It then expels the hot air out through the top.
We will learn the full, official specifications for the Lenovo Legion Go 2 soon. The big reveal is scheduled for September 4, 2025, at IFA 2025 in Berlin, Germany.
