Leicester’s Historic Home Losing Streak Continues Unabated

The Leicester City team’s disastrous performance this season hit a new low with a 0-3 loss to Newcastle.
Fans showed their frustration, booing after the second goal, scored by Mads Hermansen.
This reaction came after a series of poor performances that have left the team on the verge of relegation.

Leicester has become the first team in English professional football history to lose eight consecutive home games without scoring a single goal.
Their losing streak began with a 0-3 defeat to Wolverhampton on December 22.
This was followed by losses to Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Arsenal, Brentford, Manchester United, and most recently, Newcastle.
During this period, Leicester conceded 21 goals at King Power Stadium and failed to score.

The team has lost its last eight Premier League games and was also eliminated from the cup after a dramatic comeback by Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Leicester last won a home game in the league on December 3, when they beat West Ham 3-1.
Since then, they have registered 15 losses in 17 games, with the exceptions being a 1-1 draw with Brighton and a surprise 2-1 win over Tottenham in London.
Although they are not last in the standings due to Southampton’s even worse performance, Leicester is 15 points away from the 17th place that ensures safety and is likely to be relegated soon.

Van Nistelrooy’s Future in Doubt

After the game, Ruud van Nistelrooy expressed his disappointment, saying, “It’s very tough when, just after half an hour, we’re already losing 0-3. We started with desire and ambition, but the early goals brought us down.”
Van Nistelrooy also analyzed the goals, stating, “If we look at the goals, we could have done better in all three situations. Newcastle is an extremely dangerous team on counter-attacks, and they quickly resolved the game in their favor.”

The coach acknowledged that the team has tried different approaches but still hasn’t seen the desired results.
He mentioned that a lack of confidence is a significant issue, particularly when the team is under pressure.
When asked about his future at Leicester, Van Nistelrooy replied, “I need to sleep on it and analyze the situation.”

In the second half of the game against Newcastle, Van Nistelrooy brought in 15-year-old winger Jeremy Monga, who became the second-youngest player in Premier League history.
Due to his young age, Monga’s equipment did not have the logo of the team’s betting sponsor.
