The legal consultant of the Executive Power, Antoliano Peralta, stressed this Wednesday that the central trust thermoelectric Punta Catalina “does not imply any privatization”.
The advisor to the Dominican government on legal matters explained that the trust is a “legal mechanism” and “normal” and that “there is nothing strange.”
In that sense, he added that the country already has several of these types of contracts, of a public nature, in which assets or rights are transferred to a trustee entity.
However, he stressed that the issue of public trusts is “slightly dealt with” and stressed that a law is being worked on to give it “greater legal support.”
The official explained that because it is a financial issue, some people express their consideration of whether it is a mechanism that suits the State or not.
“I think it suits him,” argued the public servant.
Peralta also made a call for “disinformation to cease”, since, according to what he said, information leaders victimize the population with it.
“The fact of saying that a trust where the State contributes the Punta Catalina plant and the State is the one that benefits from it is a privatization, it is an act of misinformation with a political nature only,” he pointed out.
The legal consultant gave these statements on his way out of the official Eucharist this Wednesday for the 209th anniversary of the birth of the father of the country Juan Pablo Duarte, in the First Cathedral of America.
