LeBron passes Malone in points and is now second on the all-time list

LeBron le pasa a Malone en puntos y ahora ocupa el segundo lugar en la lista de todos los tiempos

Wizards 127 Lakers 119

LeBron James passed Karl Malone for second place on the list of the greatest scorers in NBA history. Now, he is second only to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

But the Lakers squandered another spectacular performance from their star.

Los Angeles suffered another loss on Saturday, 127-119 against the Washington Wizards, who overcame a 16-point deficit.

James failed to properly appreciate his milestone, following the loss.

“Obviously, there will be a day when I can look back on this moment. But for now, I can’t separate the feeling I have from this,” she explained. “We had a great opportunity to pick up some pace in the campaign.”

James had 38 points, while Russell Westbrook added 22 in his return to Washington. However, a smaller lineup couldn’t stop Kristaps Porzingis.

The seven-foot-three-inch (2.20-meter) Latvian scored 27 points, including 16 in the final period.

Porzingis hit a 3-pointer with 38 seconds left to put the Wizards up by six. James was unable to respond at the other end of the court.

Washington outscored the Lakers by 34 points to 20 in the fourth quarter.

Now, James trails only Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387 points, the all-time leading scorer. He entered the game 19 points behind Malone, who had 36,928.

The record seems within reach for James, if he stays healthy.

“I don’t allow myself to think about that. I’ve always played this game like that, for years, and these things have just happened organically, playing the right way,” James said. “I hope to achieve that at some point in my career, but I won’t think too much about it.”

Cavaliers 113 Pistons 100

All-Star point guard Darius Garland had 24 points and 12 assists, Evan Mobley posted his 20th double-double to lead NBA rookies and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Detroit Pistons 113-109 on Saturday.

Mobley finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Cedi Osman had 16 points and Kevin Love finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavs, who have won 41 this season.

With this they assured that they will cut with four years of deficit sheets.

Jerami Grant had 40 points, including 27 in the first half. Cade Cunningham, the first overall pick in the draft, added 15 points and 10 assists for the Pistons.

Saddiq Bey finished with 20 points for Orlando, two nights after he had posted a career-high 51.

Cleveland extended its lead over Toronto to 1 1/2 games for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

Hornets 129 Mavericks 108

Miles Bridges scored 23 points, PJ Washington added a season-high 21, and the Charlotte Hornets thrashed the Dallas Mavericks 129-108 on Saturday.

The Hornets took advantage of a travel-worn team and earned their fourth straight win.

Terry Rozier scored 18 points, while LaMelo Ball and Kelly Oubre had 17 apiece for the Hornets, who shot 20 of 42 from 3-point range.

Luka Doncic finished with 37 points and eight 3-pointers for the Mavs, who played their fifth road game in eight nights. They also played on consecutive nights.

The Slovenian Doncic did not play in the fourth period, when the match was already defined.

The Hornets (36-35) moved into ninth place in the Eastern Conference, a half game ahead of the Atlanta Hawks. They are one game behind the Brooklyn Nets, who are eighth.
