Leandro Paredes, close to signing for a Champions League team

Leandro Paredes, Argentine midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), is close to signing for a UEFA Champions League team, according to the Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. Lazio have established contacts with the player to obtain confirmation from him and begin direct negotiations with PSG.

WallsThe 29-year-old has a contract with PSG until the summer of 2024. However, he is not in the plans of coach Luis Enrique and is looking for a way out to a renowned club where he can have continuity and continue competing in the most high European level. In addition, he aims to maintain his importance in the Argentine team ahead of the Copa América that will be held in the United States in 2024.

Lazio, which has managed to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League, seeks to strengthen its midfield after the confirmation of the departure of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Al-Hilal of the Saudi Pro League. Paredes is a player that Maurizio Sarri, the Lazio coach, likes a lot due to his technical quality and his experience in top-level Italian football, having previously played for both Roma and Juventus Turin throughout his career.

Last season, Paredes played on loan at Juventus, where he made a total of 39 appearances in all competitions. During his tenure with the Italian club, he demonstrated his worth and his ability to adapt to the demanding Italian football.

The possible arrival of Paredes at Lazio would be a great reinforcement for the team, which seeks to consolidate itself in the European elite and compete in the highest continental competition. It will be necessary to be attentive to the progress of the negotiations between Lazio and PSG to confirm if the transfer materializes and Paredes becomes a key piece of the Italian team in its participation in the Champions League.
