League Cup: Argentinians look for the lead in Avellaneda against Racing

The third date of the Professional League Cup will close this Tuesday with four games. And the one that stands out the most is the one that will play from 9:30 p.m. in Avellaneda, Racing and Argentinos Juniors. The Academy must start to win as soon as possible to try to dissipate the bad climate between the players and the coaching staff headed by Fernando Gago with the fans that was verified in the previous home match against Gimnasia. Argentinos, meanwhile, defeated Patronato in Paraná 1-0 and Newell’s 3-0 in La Paternal. If he were to take the three points again, he would reach the leadership of zone 1 with an ideal score, which for now is led by Platense with 7 units.

Racing’s two draws (0-0 with Gymnastics and 2-2 with Defense and Justice after going up 2-0 in Florencio Varela) left a bitter taste in their massive fans who do not trust the squad that was put together for this stretch of the year nor in Gago as a coach. The arrival of Colombian Edwin Cardona did not help calm things down either and it is in this context of nerves that it will have to be played. Obviously, a win will calm people down ahead of Sunday’s classic against River. A draw and not to mention a defeat will be the foretaste of a tense night. Gago’s idea is to repeat the formation that he started against Defense. Milito would also put in Argentinos the same ones that devastated Newells.

There will be two games at 7:15 p.m. Patronato-Talleres in Paraná and Unión-Atlético Tucumán in Santa Fe. Patronato lost in its two outings against Argentinos and River and is one of the two teams that, for now, is losing the category, so it must get going so as not to keep getting complicated. Talleres, meanwhile, still hasn’t won (lost on the hour with Platense and tied in Córdoba with Unión) and so far has not convinced his people that, at the very least, he hopes to repeat and improve the very good campaigns of last year.

Unión surprised River by winning 1-0 at home on the first date and on the second, they got a good draw from Talleres in Córdoba. Atlético Tucumán debuted losing 1-0 to Sarmiento in Junin, tied 2-2 on the hour against Platense and will face a difficult game. The date will close at 9:30 p.m. with the clash in Santiago del Estero between Central Córdoba and Colón, who have four points. Central Córdoba beat Barracas Central at home and drew against Tigre in Victoria, while Colón equalized 1-1 with Boca at La Bombonera and beat Godoy Cruz 3-1 in Paraná.
