Leading UAE businessman Majid Al-Futtaim dies

Dubai: Leading UAE businessman Majid Al-Futtaim has died at the age of 91.

French News Agency Reports According to, Majid Al-Futtaim founded MAF Group 26 years ago in 1992, which made its name all over the world.

MAF has also set up a network of shopping malls in the Middle East and South Africa.

Majid al-Futtaim died on Friday after a long battle with health problems.

The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, lamented the death of Majid al-Futtaim, calling it an irreparable loss for the UAE.

He said in his condolence statement that Majid Al-Futtaim had made us a nation again and had played a great role in strengthening our economy.

Majid al-Futtaim was third on the list of Arab businessmen published by the British economic magazine Forbes with 3.6 billion in assets.

The ruler of Dubai also referred to the decision of Al-Futtaim Group to hire 3,000 Emirati in the next five years, which was announced this year.
