Lead Developer Terra Classic: No One Will Print Extra LUNC

Terra Luna Classic Price Rises 90% After Binance Announcement

Terra Classic’s core developer, Tobias Andersen, said that no one can print additional Luna Classic tokens as long as he is in charge of the project. The statement comes in response to a proposal to print 500 billion LUNC tokens as part of a plan to restructure the UST stablecoin and restore its peg to the dollar.

“We can fix USTC without printing more LUNC,” Andersen wrote. He went on to write, “Believe me when I say that as long as I control the code, no one will mint additional LUNC tokens.”

Major concerns about centralization

Many people from the Terra Classic community were happy with Andersen’s statements, as it means there won’t be a huge amount of additional tokens coming to the market. But not everyone was equally happy with the developer’s comments. For example, some say they are very concerned about the centralization of the currency.

Perhaps most striking of Tobias Andersen’s Twitter conversation was his response to the question whether his stance would remain the same if the community voted in favor of the proposal to print additional LUNC tokens. Andersen responded by saying that he would still stop it. He wrote:

“I work for free and I’m not going to implement anything I don’t agree with. But I won’t stand in the way if the community finds other developers willing to implement the proposal.”

While the developer’s statements had strong support from those who opposed the proposal, Andersen’s statements emphasized the need to find a way to pay developers rather than letting them do all the work for free.
