Launch of the Federal Campaign for Sport Free from Discrimination and Violence

The National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism (Inadi) will present tomorrow in Avellaneda the Federal Campaign for a Sport Free of Discrimination and Violence, with which it seeks to raise awareness among federations and clubs.

The Station Park, located in Güemes at 700 (Avellaneda), you will receive the owner of Inadi at 5:30 p.m. Victoria Donda; the coordinator of the Observatory against Discrimination of INADI, Karina Iummato; and the Director of Policies against Discrimination, Ornella Infante, for the launch of the campaign.

This initiative aims to systematize, strengthen and federalize a series of actions and initiatives that the Institute has been carrying out through its Observatory of the discrimination in sport, which are aimed at preventing and eradicating discrimination in sports.

The main lines of work, to be carried out in all the provinces, consist of survey tasks (investigations, oversight in stadiums), expansion of institutional ties (with clubs, federations and other state areas), awareness and awareness days (in networks, clubs, media) and awareness workshops (face-to-face and virtual).

“We understand that sport, especially neighborhood, in addition to being a recreational and educational activity with a strong social component is and should be a meeting place in diversity, which must be developed in a plural and unprejudiced way, in a context of equal opportunities and with a massive and federal scope ”, explained the Inadi technicians.

Then the journalist and announcer Franco Torchia will moderate a panel with Mónica Santino -from the NGO Nuestra Fútbol Feminista-, Paula Ojeda (from Vélez Sarsfield) and athletes of the Skate federation.

“The fight against violence and discrimination must work from the grassroots and that is why neighborhood clubs are key ”, explained Ojeda, from the Gender sector of Vélez Sarsfield, who also highlighted the pioneering work of Argentina to recognize equal marriage and gender equality.

“We see it in schools and colleagues from neighborhood clubs tell us about it. boys accept and incorporate a trans child or a boy child of a same-sex couple as a matter of course. What’s more, they consider that everyone should play together, that there should be no separation by gender or sex. And that has to do with Argentina is a forerunner in this fight and with the fact that the children already come without prejudice ”, They explained in the Inadi.
