The afternoon in the Dakar had a similar script, but never the same, because every day we found a different story. Nevertheless, write, walk, dine and get warm at the bonfire It used to be the most common routine of a day where, at the end of the day, people lived around that fire that was lit in the open air, just below a screen where the most outstanding images of the rally were shown. Every day there were stories to compare: falls or triumphs, joys or regrets. We had our particular bonfire of confrontation and recalling the reality show, each one of us shared his vision of a race that says goodbye to the bivouac.
It makes no sense to deny that visiting a hotel tomorrow will be a privilege, but in part it also generates some sadness to know that customs will suddenly stop being so. Although at least we have had one more night of images, knowing that really the most important are all those that have been recorded for 20 days away from cameras and telephones. These have come through interviews, stages, visits to the dunes or walks for a camp, which ends up being home and an unforgettable experience, of which we will record its last images at the Dammam finish line.
