UD Las Palmas responded quickly, uploading a message on social media that read "’Tell me you’re from Las Palmas without telling me you’re from Las Palmas’" alongside the iconic ‘Pio Pio’ wristband image.
The Twitter reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, with the rivalry between the two teams being thrust back into the spotlight. Some Yellow fans are even calling for the Tenerife band to be sold in the UD Las Palmas shop, a move that would heighten the rivalry between the sides.
