It’s always a treat to see real friendships shine in the bright lights of the entertainment world. Lara Dutta, known for her grace on and off screen, recently poured her heart out for a very special person. Her good friend, Deanne Panday, mother to rising star Ahaan Panday, was the happy recipient of Lara’s sweet words.
Ahaan Panday just hit the big screen with his debut film, Saiyaara. The movie, directed by Mohit Suri, has done incredibly well at the box office. Seeing Ahaan make such a splash clearly touched Lara, prompting her to share a beautiful post about Deanne.
Lara and Deanne, or "DP" as Lara affectionately calls her, share a bond that goes back a quarter-century. Lara spoke about coming to Mumbai as a teenager, feeling quite alone. Deanne and her family welcomed Lara like she was one of their own. They made sure she felt cared for, a true friend when Lara needed it most.
Their friendship stayed strong through Lara’s biggest achievements. Deanne was there when Lara won her Miss India and Miss Universe titles. She helped Lara stay grounded during those dizzying times. She also supported Lara’s fitness and mental well-being.
Life has its ups and downs, and Deanne has been Lara’s constant rock. She stood by Lara through relationships, breakups, Lara’s own marriage, and the joyful arrival of her daughter. Even during the difficult time of losing her parents, Deanne was right there. Lara shared that Deanne is quietly, completely present, offering compassion, courage, and love.
Lara posted some throwback photos on Instagram to mark the occasion. She wrote, "This post is for my friend Deanne." She spoke about watching Ahaan’s film and how proud she was. Lara has known Ahaan since he was a child. She said it was a joy to see him grow into a thoughtful, well-mannered, and charming young man. Lara added that she never doubted Ahaan would become a star. But she clearly gives all the credit for that to his mother, Deanne.
Deanne is truly a giver. Lara highlighted how Deanne always steps up to help her loved ones, even when she’s mentally and physically worn out. She works quietly, handling what needs to be done without asking for anything in return. Her children, Alanna and Ahaan, are her world. (Lara joked that maybe her grandson River now takes the top spot!) Lara clearly sees Deanne as a true "supermom" and "grandmother." She has been a force in making all their dreams come true.
Lara concluded her heartfelt message, "My darling DP… I am so happy and proud of what your children have achieved." She acknowledged Deanne’s immense hard work and countless prayers for them. Lara expressed her hope that the accomplishments of Alanna and Ahaan will forever be proof of Deanne’s good deeds and wonderful personality.
