Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, asked for “unity and support for all Barcelona fans” at the XIV Congress of Barça Clubs of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla held in Órgiva (Granada), in which he assured that he will defend the club “to the last drop of blood” against the accusations related to the Negreira case, in his opinion “a denigrating campaign”.
“They have nothing and all they want is to damage our image and reputation with a denigrating campaign”, he said in the presence of the directors Antonio Escudero and Josep Ignasi Maciá and the deputy to the presidency, Enric Masip.
“What they are doing is very ugly, but you don’t play with our feelings. The tactic never changes and involves trying to drown us with the clear intention of squeezing you until we give in and we are going to defend Barça to the last drop of blood”, said the president, cheered by the assembly members.
Also in the presence of ex-soccer players Esteban Vigo and Quique EstebaranzLaporta pointed out that the feeling of Barça “is neither bought nor sold” and “it doesn’t get dirty either, like,” he said, “we’re seeing lately with very serious attacks on our shield that have nothing to do with reality.”
“Why we we have always won sportingly on the pitch thanks to the talent and commitment of the players. What they are doing is very ugly and it is not by chance, ”he stressed.
“There are 123 years of history in which we have shown values, commitment, responsibility, honesty and sportsmanship”, highlighted the president of Barcelona, who assured: “At no time have we entered into dynamics that want people to believe what we have done, but, in the end, we are clear that Barça will always be yours”.
