Lando Norris is on top of the world after winning the Monaco Grand Prix. He edged out Charles Leclerc and teammate Oscar Piastri. This is his first win in Monaco and sixth overall. It’s a big deal for McLaren, too – they hadn’t won here since 2008.
Norris started strong, taking the pole position. But things got tricky with two mandatory pit stops. He lost the lead a few times, only to grab it back on the last lap. Max Verstappen, who finished fourth, had to make a second pit stop, giving Norris the opening he needed.
It was a nerve-wracker. Norris gave up the lead to Leclerc on lap 21. Later, he was back in front, with Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso out of the running due to a crash and engine issues.
The final stretch was a game of wait-and-see. Norris had made his pit stops by lap 50. Then, Verstappen took the lead until lap 77, when he pitted and handed the win to Norris.
