Lamdassem and Loyo win the San Sebastián half marathon

Ayad Lamdasse and Elena Loyo shone today at the Zurich San Sebastian International Half Marathon. Lamdassem won with 1h02:48 and Loyo with 1h13:12 in a spectacular day, with great time and the participation of nearly 2000 runners. Both races have been very exciting. In the men’s, it wasn’t until the last two kilometers that victory was decided in favor of the national marathon record holder. “I’m very happy. The circuit was spectacular. I didn’t expect to go below one hour and three minutes today and I managed it well. I see myself qualified to lose two hours and six minutes in a marathon”.

The male elite athletes have been taking turns at the head of the race during the first kilometers. A group of three has been formed with Lamdassem, Javi Guerra and Fernando Carro. And the last kilometers have reached Guerra and Lamdassem together, changing the second of them to two of the finish line and entering alone to the spectacular goal located next to the San Sebastián town hall. The best Gipuzkoan was Unai Arroyo (1:06:55), who finished fifth at the finish line.

In the women’s race, convincing triumph of Elena Loyo. The Vitorian has run during the first kilometers together with Laura Méndez, second, and Irene Pelayo, third. The first to stay was Pelayo and before kilometer 15, Loyo, who went from less to more, was the one who changed the pace to take the victory. “I love running in this city and today the public was ten.” The best Gipuzkoan was Nerea Egia (1:24:38).
