Lakhnawi Boy Zeeshan Ansari Shines in IPL Debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Zeeshan was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for 40 lakh rupees. Before his IPL debut, he played for his state team in the Uttar Pradesh League, where he was the top wicket-taker in the first season with 24 wickets. He also played under-19 cricket for India alongside Rishabh Pant.

From humble beginnings

Zeeshan comes from a simple family with 19 members. His father, Naeem Ansari, runs a tailoring shop in Lucknow. Despite his impressive performance in the Uttar Pradesh League, Zeeshan didn’t get a chance to play for his state in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. He’s known for his ability to take wickets with his spin.

Rise to fame

Before his IPL debut, Zeeshan had played only one T20 match for his state. He also played five first-class cricket matches for Uttar Pradesh, taking 17 wickets. In his first IPL match, Zeeshan took three wickets, followed by one wicket in his second match. Although he didn’t take any wickets in his third match, he has the trust of his captain, Pat Cummins. In fact, Zeeshan is being preferred over Adam Zampa.
