Los Angeles Lakers Sign Bronny James, LeBron’s 19-Year-Old Son
The Los Angeles Lakers have officially signed Bronny James, the 19-year-old son of NBA superstar LeBron James, after selecting him as the 55th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
In a press conference, JJ Redick, the new coach of the Lakers, praised Bronny, stating, "Bronny has earned it… Bronny has earned it through hard work, denying allegations of nepotism.
Bronny thanked Rob Pelinka, vice president of basketball operations and general manager, saying, "They’ve given me the opportunity."
The young player responded to criticism on social media, stating, "I’ve already seen social media talking about how maybe I don’t deserve a chance. I’ll get over it."
In an interview, Bronny revealed that he never thought about playing with his father, LeBron James, saying, "But that’s always there. But that wasn’t my main focus."
LeBron James and his wife, Savannah, did not attend the presentation of their son.

Bronny emphasized that he did not have many opportunities at USC, saying, "I feel like I’ve been given the opportunity to really show what I can do because I didn’t have a lot of opportunities at USC. I’m excited for what’s to come."
Bronny’s statistics with USC in the NCAA were 4.8 points (36.6% field goals), 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 19.3 minutes.
