A late-game goal in a cup match has put striker André Lacximicant in contention for a starting spot with Portuguese club Estoril, which has seen its main forwards struggle for scoring production this season.
Lacximicant, 24, netted his first goal of the current season in the 94th minute of a Portuguese Cup fixture against Belenenses. The dramatic strike secured a victory for Estoril.
Coach Ian Cahtro is now reportedly considering reinserting Lacximicant into the starting eleven for the upcoming league match against Nacional. The striker has primarily featured off the bench in Estoril’s last four league outings.
Estoril has faced significant challenges with the effectiveness of its primary strikers this season. The team’s leading forwards have recorded low scoring numbers.
Alejandro Marqués, who has started in the last three league rounds, has yet to score a goal. Another player deployed in the striker position, Begraoui, has managed only one goal.
The club’s top scorers are currently midfielders João Carvalho, Guitane, and Lominadze, each with two goals.
