Kyrie Irving will finally play a home game again for Brooklyn on Sunday. And, apparently, he intends to play home games for the Nets for years to come.
During a news conference Saturday after Brooklyn’s practice in Miami, Irving said he feels comfortable being part of the Nets’ roster and wants to remain teammates with Kevin Durant.
Irving has an option to renew his contract for $36.5 million for next season. He could turn her down and sign a five-year, $246 million deal in the summer, assuming the Nets offer him something like that.
“I love being here,” Irving said. “Once summer comes around, I know we’ll have some conversations, but there’s no way I left my number 7 here.”
That was a reference to Durant, who wears the No. 7 jersey for Brooklyn.
