Kylie Kelce’s Hilarious Reaction to Taylor Swift’s Bold Travis Song ‘Wood’

Taylor Swift’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, certainly has everyone talking, especially about one particular song. While the entire record offers plenty of tunes, it’s the track "Wood" that has caused quite a stir, even within the Kelce family. Travis Kelce’s sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce, recently shared her hilarious and totally relatable reaction to the song on her podcast.

Kylie, 33, opened up on her "Not Gonna Lie" podcast episode from Thursday, October 9. She revealed her top picks from the album, which dropped just days before. She told listeners there are some "bangers" on the album that everyone knows. Kylie, who shares four daughters with her husband Jason Kelce, said her daughter Ellie and she have been grooving to "Opalite" on the way to school, calling it a "great song." She also singled out "Wish List" as another standout track.

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for. Kylie acknowledged the song "Wood" with a laugh. She shared her inner thoughts on the spicy tune, saying, "Do I really need that much detail, specifically about my brother-in-law? Probably not." But then, with a playful shift in tone, she added, "But also…" Kylie paused to clap, cheering, "Good job, Trav." That was all she needed to say. It perfectly summed up the mixed feelings of a supportive, yet slightly TMI, family member.

Fans had a similar reaction when Swift’s twelfth album dropped on Friday, October 3. "Wood" quickly became a talking point thanks to its bold lyrics. The song describes a certain part of Travis’s anatomy as a "sequoia tree." Swift sings, "Girls, I don’t need to catch the bouquet / To know a hard rock is coming my way." It’s definitely not the kind of imagery you’d expect from a typical pop song.

Swift herself has had to explain the song’s origin. During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, October 6, she admitted she didn’t mean for the song to turn out so daring. She explained that she went into the studio wanting a "retro, timeless" song about superstitions, like knocking on wood. She joked that it "really came from a very innocent place." Swift added, "I don’t know what happened, truly. I came in, we started connecting, and I don’t know, I don’t know how we got to this. But I love the song."

Swift maintains that "Wood" is truly about leaving superstitions behind. She even joked during an interview on SiriusXM’s Morning Mash Up that her mom, Andrea, hasn’t caught on to the deeper meanings. "She thinks the song is about superstitions, which it absolutely is," Swift teased on Monday. "That’s the joy of the double entendre. You can put that song on for people, and it just floats right over their head."

Kylie wasn’t the only Kelce to weigh in. Travis’s brother, Jason, also had plenty to say about the new tune on the "New Heights" podcast episode from Wednesday, October 8. Swift even slyly refers to their podcast in "Wood," singing about reaching "new heights of manhood." Jason, 37, playfully mocked the "sequoia" comparison, calling it a "generous" word. He suggested if someone wrote a song about him, it would be more like, "Japanese maple / Sometimes you can see it." Travis laughed off his brother’s jab, saying Jason wasn’t quite grasping Swift’s songwriting style. Jason, however, wasn’t buying Travis’s modesty. Still, Jason gave the song his full approval, saying, "But that song is great. The beat of that song is fantastic and it’s totally my style, so well done. I think it’s a great song." It seems the Kelce family has fully embraced Taylor Swift’s latest musical offering, "Wood," even with its delightfully bold details.
