Kuwait: Banks consider changing working hours

Kuwait City: Changing the working hours of banks in Kuwait is being considered and discussed in this regard.

According to local media reports, local banks in Kuwait are considering a proposal to change the working hours of banks from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Sources said that talks are underway before taking the appropriate and final decision and opening the door for talks with the Central Bank of Kuwait in this regard.

Kuwait’s central bank is also monitoring advertisements published by coin collectors who are selling the sixth issue of Kuwaiti dinar banknotes at a price higher than their financial value.

Kuwait’s central bank, on the other hand, has instructed local banks to stop charging fees for electronic local money transfers.

The central bank clarified that the imposition of such fees would require approval from the concerned authorities within the framework of a balanced relationship between banks and their customers.

The central bank stressed the need to ensure that the move supports trends towards digital transformation and encourages consumers to use electronic channels.
