Kunduz blast: Death toll rises to 100

An explosion at the Akhundzad Mosque in the Afghan city of Kunduz during Friday prayers has killed at least 100 people and injured scores more, some in critical condition.

The terrorist organization ISIS Khorasan has claimed responsibility for the deadliest suicide bombing since the US withdrawal.

300 people were offering Friday prayers in the mosque where devastation had spread after the blast and the number of martyrs was reported to be 50 in the first few hours but now the number has risen to about 100.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on Twitter yesterday that several compatriots had been killed and wounded in the blast, while Kunduz Governor Matiullah Rouhani had confirmed that dozens of worshipers had been martyred and hundreds injured.

Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a mosque in Kunduz. The Foreign Office spokesman said that in this hour of sorrow, Pakistan stands with the Afghan brothers.

The United Nations Mission in Afghanistan has also expressed deep concern over the blast.
