Kun Khmer Lands in Madrid with Top Fighters and Promoters

The Kun Khmer, protagonist in combat sports in Madrid

A new martial discipline called Kun Khmer has arrived in Spain, bringing with it a range of organizations and promoters. According to Jacinto Rodríguez, the promoter of the event, “I think the future is very hopeful because we are taking the witness of great promoters such as One Championship; which is basically our sport, but with guantillas.” He believes that the future of Kun Khmer is promising, especially with the influence of established promoters like One Championship, which has gained popularity with its fights featuring guantillas instead of gloves.

The event, organized by Mtr Fight Channel in collaboration with Cambodian promoter KSF and approved by the World Kickboxing and Karate Association (WKA), will feature top national and international fighters, including a delegation from Cambodia. Jacinto Rodríguez notes that evenings like this are comparable to UFC events in terms of promotion, opportunities, and social media impact. He says, “Evenings like one are elbow with UFC in many aspects of the promotion.”

As for the growing popularity of contact sports in Spain, Jacinto attributes it to the changing preferences of society, particularly among young people. He believes that the short rounds in Kun Khmer, typically 3 or 5 minutes, make the sport more engaging and less boring. The event will feature notable fighters such as Mario Álvarez, Kevin Martínez, and Laura de Blas from Spain, as well as international fighters like Kim Bora and Thai Barlow.

The Spanish team will face a tough challenge when they meet the Cambodian team, who will attend the football match between Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid immediately after the event. The event will take place at the Mad Fight Stadium, a key location for combat sports in Madrid, and will start at 5:00 p.m. and last for three hours. Tickets are available through the website and directly from the participants, making this a must-attend event for combat sports enthusiasts.
