Kumar Vishwas Sparks New Ramayana Controversy

Controversy Surrounding Sonakshi Sinha’s Knowledge of Ramayana Reignites

A long-standing controversy involving Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha’s knowledge of the Ramayana has resurfaced. The issue initially gained attention when Sonakshi was unable to answer a question related to the Ramayana on the popular TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The controversy has been rekindled by recent comments made by veteran actor Mukesh Khanna and poet Kumar Vishwas.

Kumar Vishwas Clarifies His Statement

Kumar Vishwas recently sparked outrage on social media with his comments on interfaith marriages, which some perceived as a veiled attack on Sonakshi Sinha and her husband Zaheer Iqbal. In response to the backlash, Kumar Vishwas has issued a clarification, stating that his comments were not intended to target any individual or community.

In an interview, Kumar Vishwas explained that his comments were meant to highlight the importance of cultural consciousness and the need to educate children about Indian heritage. He emphasized that his intention was not to create hatred or division but to encourage people to appreciate their cultural roots.

Kumar Vishwas’s Original Statement

Kumar Vishwas had initially stated, “Make your children remember the names of Sita ji’s sisters and Lord Ram’s brothers. I am giving a hint, those who understand should applaud. Read Ramayana and Geeta to your children. Otherwise, it may not happen that the name of your house is Ramayana, but someone else takes away Lakshmi of your house.”

Many interpreted Kumar Vishwas’s comments as a subtle attack on Sonakshi Sinha and her family, particularly since her family name is Ramayana and her brothers are named Luv and Kush. The controversy surrounding Sonakshi’s knowledge of the Ramayana was reignited, with many questioning her understanding of Indian mythology.

Mukesh Khanna’s Regrets

Mukesh Khanna, a veteran actor, had previously spoken out against Sonakshi Sinha, stating that she was unable to answer a simple question about the Ramayana. He had attributed her lack of knowledge to her father, Shatrughan Sinha, saying that he had failed to educate his children about Indian culture and mythology.

However, Mukesh Khanna later expressed regret for his comments, stating that he should not have dragged the issue further. He apologized for any offense caused and promised not to repeat his mistake in the future.
