Kriti Sanon often speaks her mind on big issues in the film industry. Lately, she’s been vocal about the major pay differences. Even today, there’s a huge gap between what male and female stars earn. Sanon isn’t shy about sharing her thoughts on this topic.
Sanon has played many strong women in her movies. She is just as tough and direct in real life. She believes there should be no income gap in the film industry. But the current situation bothers her a lot. It’s something she feels strongly about.
Kriti Says Salaries Should Be Equal
Speaking at a CNN News18 event on Thursday, Kriti Sanon stated her point clearly. “I don’t understand why there isn’t equality in salary,” she said. “For certain roles, for specific kinds of work, it should not matter if you are a man or a woman.” Sanon firmly believes that pay should be the same across the board. “It should be the same in films too,” she added. “We’ve been talking about this for a very long time. Believe me, this income gap truly bothers us the most.”
Kriti Also Talks About Women-Centric Films
Sanon also explained how this issue creates a cycle. “Even if a film is women-centric, I feel its budget is not as much as a hero-centric film,” she explained. She noted that producers worry about getting their money back from movies led by women. “So, I think this is a cycle,” she said. “Women-centric films don’t earn as much as hero-centric films. Because of this, many people feel that a hero’s fee is higher and a heroine’s is lower.”
