Actress Kriti Sanon, known for her strong views, has now taken on a significant role. The United Nations Population Fund, or UNFPA, recently named her its ambassador for gender equality. This appointment feels like a natural step for the star, who often speaks out against inequality.
Kriti is famous for both her acting and her willingness to share her thoughts publicly. She frequently discusses gender discrimination. She also highlights unfairness she sees in the film industry. In her new role with UNFPA, Kriti will work alongside others. They will look for ways to help women and girls learn, lead, and thrive. This effort will also boost UNFPA’s wider mission for equality.
Equality Begins at Home, Says Kriti
Kriti believes that true gender equality starts within our own homes. Speaking to Mirror, she shared her thoughts on this important topic. She emphasized the need to raise boys and girls equally. Kriti pointed out a common challenge where families cannot afford to educate both children. Often, they choose to educate their sons instead of their daughters.
She stressed that education shapes a person’s life and career choices. It is crucial for both sons and daughters to have the freedom to follow their dreams. Parents must provide this equal opportunity.
A Personal Story of Equal Upbringing
Kriti also talked about her own upbringing. She credited her parents for raising her and her sister, Nupur Sanon, without any limits. She mentioned that her parents taught her from a young age that men and women are equal. “We were two sisters,” she explained. “Growing up, I was never told I couldn’t do something because I was a girl.”
Her parents always supported her dreams. Kriti remembered how relatives would tell her, “Oh, she wants to be an actress, she won’t get married. People don’t marry such girls.” But her parents never let such comments affect them. Seeing both her mother and father work and manage their home together showed her there are no fixed gender roles.

On the Work Front
While taking on this significant ambassador role, Kriti also keeps busy with her acting career. She has several films lined up for release. She will appear with Dhanush in Anand L Rai’s movie, ‘Tere Ishk Mein’. That film is set to come out in November this year.
Kriti has also begun filming for ‘Cocktail 2’. Additionally, there are rumors that she might be part of Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’. However, the official casting for ‘Don 3’ has not been confirmed yet.
