Konkona Sen Sharma, known for her acting and directing, has provided an update on her next directorial venture. She is set to helm a comedy series, marking a significant shift in genre for the acclaimed filmmaker.
The project is a comedy show that Sen Sharma is co-writing and co-directing with her college friend, Jaideep Sarkar.
She expressed a mix of anticipation and nerves about the upcoming series. “It is a comedy show, which I am writing and directing with my college friend Jaideep Sarkar. I am a little nervous about it, but we are going to have fun with it,” she stated in an interview.
Notably, Sen Sharma confirmed she will not appear as an actress in her new show. This decision allows her to fully focus on her role behind the camera.

She explained her choice, saying, “I don’t think I will work in it as an actress. I have many other good artists, so why should I make things difficult for myself. I have seen artists write and direct projects themselves. However, I don’t have that ability yet.”
Sen Sharma made her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film ‘Death in the Gunj’ in 2016. She also co-directed a segment of the anthology film ‘Lust Stories 2’.
As an actress, Sen Sharma debuted in Bollywood with ‘Film Page 3’. She recently appeared in ‘Metro… In Dino,’ which serves as a sequel to the 2007 film ‘Life in a Metro’.
The cast of ‘Metro… In Dino’ included Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, and Neena Gupta. Anurag Basu directed the movie.
