Bayern coach Vincent Kompany addressed the media ahead of the first quarterfinal match of the UEFA Champions League against Inter. The conversation naturally shifted to Thomas Muller’s decision to leave the club after the summer, despite his willingness to stay, and the team’s numerous injuries.
Kompany emphasized the importance of focusing on the upcoming game. His priority is to ensure the team is well-prepared and makes the right decisions about who plays and who doesn’t.
“We’ve got our eyes on tomorrow,” he said. “The guys who are going to play have been part of our journey so far. I don’t want to make excuses or change my goals because of injuries.”
When asked about replacing Musiala, Kompany didn’t reveal too much. “We’ve played without Jamal before, and we can find solutions. It’s about tomorrow. We can’t replace him with someone just like him, so we need to figure it out as a team.”
Kompany praised Inter, calling them a dangerous team that can find their moments and is good at building the game and set pieces. “They score a lot of goals because they have great players, but we do too,” he said.
The Bayern coach also reflected on the previous match against Leverkusen. “The Inter doesn’t concede many goals, but that’s not the point. It’s about the moments in the game. We need to be ready for those moments and show our character.”
