Kohli’s Fitness Concerns Rise Before Champions Trophy in England Series

Virat Kohli’s first ODI against England was a surprising topic of discussion. Given that Kohli is considered one of the most fit athletes in the world, the news of him sitting out of the playing XI due to a fitness issue was hard to believe. The truth is that Virat had to miss the first match against England because of a knee injury. Now, along with updates on his injury, there is new information about his potential participation in the second match in Cuttack.

Shubman Gill provided an update, stating that Virat appeared to be perfectly fit during the evening before the match. Additionally, Virat was seen practicing before the first ODI in Nagpur. However, when Rohit Sharma announced during the toss that Virat would not be part of the playing XI, it was disappointing and shocking news, especially for Indian fans. Initially, it seemed that Kohli was replaced by Yashasvi Jaiswal, but after the match, Shreyas Iyer clarified that he was replaced by Kohli.

According to a report published in the Times of India, a source stated that “during practice, Virat had no issues with his knee, but when we reached the hotel, it had swollen.” The source also mentioned that Virat will “definitely play in the second ODI match.” As of now, there has been no scan of Virat’s knee. It is also uncertain whether Virat will go to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for further investigation or practice for another ODI in Cuttack.
