Koei Tecmo, a major Japanese game distributor, has just released its financial results for the last fiscal year, which ended on April 31. The company reported its highest-ever profit, beating previous records.
The company released nine games during this period, including major titles like Dynasty Warriors Origins and Atelier Yumia. Although sales were slightly down compared to the 2023 fiscal year, the company’s profit still rose 11.4%.
Key Factors Behind the Profit Surge
Several factors contributed to this success. New game sales were a significant driver. The company also reduced costs for developing Live Service games and saw a rise in digital game sales. Dynasty Warriors Origins and Atelier Yumia performed particularly well. Other titles, such as Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Warriors: Abyss, also met expectations.
Looking Ahead to the Next Fiscal Year
Despite this success, Koei Tecmo expects its profit to drop in the next fiscal year. The company is planning to release Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment for the Switch 2. However, uncertainty in the market and significant investments in project development are likely to impact their financials.
