Klarna announces a redesign of its application inspired by TikTok

Artificial Intelligence is gaining ground and continues to evolve. Thus, it is an ally for companies to improve their efficiency. Recently, the fintech firm klarna announced an extensive redesign of its application, adding an AI-powered TikTok-inspired discovery feed. On the other hand, it also showcases custom shops for social media content creators and the ability to sell second-hand products.

On Tuesday, April 25, the Swedish fintech firm indicated that the design change is aimed at helping users find the items they want using more advanced AI recommendation algorithms. This would also help the merchants to target their customers effectively.

Similarities to TikTok

The short video platform youikTok is leading the way in introducing new features. Most of the competitors want to copy them. In addition, its advanced segmentation features have made the social network the preferred option for e-commerce companies to advertise on the platform.

From Klarna they want to achieve a similar trend. For his part, David Sandstrom, Klarna’s chief marketing officer, admitted that Klarna’s technology was nowhere near as sophisticated as TikTok. “It would be naive to compare ourselves to TikTok’s recommendation engine. It would be an outright lie to say that we are close to that. But we have the prerequisites to do it.”

In this way, the company does not want to fall behind other technology companies in terms of incorporating AI software to better adapt content to users. Previously, launched the ability to integrate ChatGPT into its service, along with a plugin that allows users to ask the popular AI chatbot for inspiration to buy.

On the other hand, the application has opted for another function called Ask Klarna last Tuesday, which allows buyers to chat or video call customer advisory specialists.

Among other features, Klarna is launching a tool that will allow content creators to set up their own stores while promoting items from brands they have affiliate agreements with. The service is called CreatorShop and will be released soon in the United States.
