When Indian T20 vice captain Lokesh Rahul was asked about the increasing level of air pollution in the city ahead of the series opener against New Zealand, he said we had come here to play cricket. Like in Delhi, the level of air pollution in Jaipur has also increased after Diwali earlier this month.
Jaipur’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was very poor on Saturday, while the city also witnessed smog (a mixture of haze and smoke) on Monday morning.

Rahul said before the Indian team’s first practice session on Monday: “Actually, we haven’t come out yet. We just got to the stadium, so I don’t have the answer. I didn’t bring a meter in my hand, so I don’t know what. so serious is the level of contamination.
“I’m sure it’s not that bad,” he said. We have all come here to play cricket.

Meanwhile, India participated in the first training session under the leadership of new head coach Rahul Dravid. During this, Rohit Sharma, Dravid’s teammates and other support staff were also in attendance. The team participated in the first practice session after three days of isolation.
India is scheduled to play three T20 Internationals against New Zealand on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, followed by a two-test series between the two teams.
