India team starter Lokesh Rahul has come forward to help an 11-year-old budding cricketer and donated Rs 31 lakh for his treatment. This child is going to have a bone marrow transplant (BMT), which is a blood problem. In December, Varad Nalawade’s insurance agent, father Sachin and mother Swapna Jha, started the campaign with the intention of raising Rs 35 lakh for their son’s treatment. Upon hearing about Varad, the KL Rahul team contacted the organization involved in this campaign. The boy, who has been studying in class V since last September, is receiving treatment at Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai. He has ‘aplastic anemia’, which is a blood problem.
Here is the problem with Varad Nalavade
Varad’s blood platelet levels are very low, causing his immune system to fall victim to infection. She takes months to recover from even a normal fever. The only permanent cure for Varad is BMT. With Rahul’s help, Varad’s operation has been performed and she is now recovering. Rahul has said that when I heard about Varad’s condition, my team contacted GiveIndia so we can help him. He said that I am happy that the surgery was successful and that he is recovering. I hope that Varad can soon stand up and make his dreams come true.
