When the trailer for ‘Badass Ravikumar’ dropped, many were surprised to see Kirti Kulhari taking on the role of a female lead in the film. Known for her serious roles, Kirti’s casting in this movie raised a few eyebrows. Even Kirti herself admits that she and Himesh Reshammiya, the director, come from different worlds, making their collaboration seem unlikely.
In a conversation with News18, Kirti shared her initial reaction to being offered the film. “I understand why people are surprised,” she said. “They couldn’t believe it was really me in the trailer. They had to watch it again to make sure.” Kirti revealed that she was shocked when she was first approached for the role. She had questions about how her character would fit into the story and how she would be perceived by her audience.
As Kirti delved deeper into the project, she realized that Himesh had a clear vision for the film. When she suggested changes to some of the dialogues, Himesh was firm in his stance. “He told me that if I wanted to do the film, I had to do it his way,” Kirti recalled. “He said I could either take it or leave it, but the dialogue wouldn’t be changed.” This level of conviction from Himesh actually impressed Kirti. She appreciated his clarity and confidence in his work.
Kirti decided to take on the challenge and do the film. She was drawn to Himesh’s passion and commitment to his vision. “I liked that he was clear about what he wanted,” she said. “It was refreshing to see someone who knows exactly what they’re doing.” Despite initial reservations about how the film might affect her career, Kirti chose to push past her doubts and embrace the opportunity.
‘Badass Ravikumar’ hit theaters on February 7, featuring an ensemble cast, including Saurabh Sachdeva, Johnny Lever, and Sanjay Mishra, alongside Himesh and Kirti. The film faced stiff competition from other releases, but it has managed to hold its ground. Kirti’s decision to step out of her comfort zone and work with Himesh has certainly sparked interesting conversations about her career choices and the film’s overall reception.
