Kim Kardashian Says Kanye West Split ‘Not a Failure’ on Call Her Daddy

Kim Kardashian offered candid insights into her personal life during a recent appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. The reality television star shared extensive details, particularly concerning her past relationship with Kanye West. The episode was published on Wednesday, October 15.

Kardashian, 44, stated that leaving a marriage with children is “definitely harder than staying.” She explained that such a decision “changes everyone’s lives, forever.”

Kardashian married West in 2014. They share four children: North, 11; Saint, 8; Chicago, 6; and Psalm, 5. She filed for divorce in 2021, which was finalized the following year.

She admitted she “maybe” did not “pay attention” to negative signs early in their marriage. However, the separation was not an easy choice.

“When someone has their first mental breakdown, you want to give them so much support and help them through that,” Kardashian said. She added that it becomes difficult to continue a “toxic” relationship when someone is “unwilling to make changes.”

Kardashian initially “wanted to believe for a while” that things would improve. Her children ultimately influenced her final decision to leave.

She explained, “Once my mental health starts to be affected and I can no longer raise my kids the way I need to and I can’t be present and focused. One of us has to be able to do that.” She concluded, “I had to save myself so I could be a better mom for everyone.”

Kardashian stated a decade-long relationship with four children “is not a failure.” She believes one “can’t think like that” or “live like that.” She emphasized the need to be “happy with myself.”

She also revealed that she and her children had not heard from West in “a couple of months.”

Beyond her marriage, Kardashian addressed other rumors and personal stories. She clarified the infamous moment she cried over lost diamond earrings in the ocean. She explained they were “one of my first big purchases” and were “not insured yet.”

Her upset reaction stemmed from the financial loss. “If I had insured them, I could claim them and then I would have gotten my money back, but I hadn’t insured them,” she stated.

Kardashian addressed rumors about her 2021 Met Gala appearance, where her face was covered by a black Balenciaga outfit. She denied speculation that the look was to conceal facelift scars.

“That’s crazy,” she commented. “I would love to show it off if I did it, but I didn’t.”

Kardashian also debunked rumors of a past romantic involvement with Travis Barker, now married to her sister Kourtney Kardashian. She denied any such relationship.

She clarified that Barker had previously dated Paris Hilton. Kim, Kourtney, and Barker were all friends and spent time together.

In a more lighthearted revelation, Kardashian shared that her “craziest sex story” involved having sex in a movie theater. She did not disclose her partner.

The reality star described Caitlyn Jenner’s transition as the most challenging public issue her family faced. She noted the “mixed emotions” and the learning process they underwent.

“We’re learning all of this for the first time and want to support our little sisters, try to support my mom who is now divorcing, and make sure we don’t say anything too offensive,” Kardashian recalled. The family navigated this entirely on camera.

Regarding her marriage to West, Kardashian admitted to being “really dissociated.” She felt “very quiet” at many times, trying to comprehend everything.

The “extra pressure” of a public relationship made the challenges more difficult to manage.

Currently, Kardashian is experiencing her longest period of being single. She feels “totally content” with her relationship status.

“I have to raise my kids, I have a life that requires a lot of my attention and my kids really need me right now,” she explained. She is “not looking” and said a new partner would need to be “super special.”

Finally, Kardashian dismissed the “Kardashian curse” rumor, which suggests men dating the family fall from grace. She “always hated that” idea.

She described it as “very unfair” to blame the women for problems ex-partners might face. Kardashian argued these individuals “already had those problems before.”
