Kim Jong Un Tests AI-Controlled Kamikaze Drones and Unveils Airborne Warning System

Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s leader, visited a test of AI-controlled drones. These drones can attack targets on land and sea.

North Korea wants to make its army stronger with new tech. Kim says the country is focused on drones and AI. This is part of a trend in modern warfare, where “smart” drones are used more.

How it works

The drones are cheap and can evade defenses. They’re called “suicide drones” because they explode on impact.

Examples

These drones were used in the Nagorno-Karabakh war and the Russia-Ukraine war. Russia used Iranian drones to attack Ukraine’s infrastructure.

Kim also unveiled a new air warning system. It’s an upgrade to the country’s old air defense system. The new system looks like the US RQ-4 Global Hawk, a high-altitude surveillance plane.

North Korea is working on other projects too. It has nuclear weapons and is developing missiles, submarines, and cybersecurity capabilities. The country even sent troops to help Russia fight Ukraine.
