Keith Urban’s Love Song to Guitarist Maggie Baugh Preceded Kidman Divorce

Country music superstar Keith Urban and acclaimed actress Nicole Kidman are going their separate ways after 19 years of marriage. The news comes after Kidman filed for divorce on Tuesday, September 30, citing "irreconcilable differences." This split has certainly caught fans by surprise.

Looking back, a moment from Urban’s concert on April 1 in Las Vegas now seems particularly interesting. The 57-year-old artist appeared to dedicate a special lyric to his guitarist, Maggie Baugh, who is 25. This happened roughly six months before the public learned of his divorce from Kidman, 58.

During his performance of "The Fighter," Urban sang the line, "I was born to love you." He then reportedly pointed toward Baugh across the stage. Footage from that night, obtained by TMZ and reported on Thursday, October 2, shows this interaction. Urban even changed another lyric, singing, "Maggie, I’ll be your fighter," while pointing at her again. At the end of the song, Urban introduced her, saying, "She is Maggie Baugh," and they shared a hug.

According to reports from a prominent entertainment news outlet, Us, Kidman also filed documents requesting to be the "primary residential parent" for their two daughters, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14. These court papers outline a detailed marital dissolution agreement. It includes a parenting plan, child support arrangements, and an order for a "parenting seminar."

The agreement states the teenagers will spend 306 days a year with Kidman and 59 days with Urban. Both parents committed to raising their daughters as a team. However, the plan also noted that if there’s ever a major disagreement about their daughters’ upbringing, Kidman, the Big Little Lies actress, would have the final say.

Neither Kidman nor Urban has publicly commented on their separation. However, a source close to the couple shared with Us that they had been "discreetly separated for a while." This source explained that they needed time to figure out if divorce was truly the path they would take.

The source added that Kidman was "devastated" and felt she "had lost confidence" in the marriage. She had tried to make things work and wanted to keep their troubles private. "She didn’t tell many friends what was really going on between them and had been holding this in for months," the source stated.

While Kidman and Urban were last seen together in June at a FIFA Club World Cup match in Nashville, the source confirmed they had been living "separate lives." "Nicole and Keith were no longer on the same wavelength," the source told Us. "They are moving in two different directions, and their worlds no longer crossed as much as before. Lately, the distance between them became much more evident."
